RMS BERENGARIA

As duas grandes guerras mundiais do século XX, para além de toda a ordem de iniquidades em que se traduziram, tiveram consequências profundas no mundo da navegação de passageiros, com a Alemanha a perder a maior parte da frota de navios mercantes, paquetes incluídos. O BERENGARIA, representado neste postal da fase final da vida do navio, com 3 chaminés exageradas a imitar as do QUEEN MARY de 1936, era originalmente o orgulho da Alemanha Imperial, o transatlântico IMPERATOR da companhia Hapag, de Hamburg, introduzido em 1913 como o maior navio do mundo, foi entregue à Inglaterra em 1921 e comprado pela Cunard...

Collecting post cards of ships

My lifelong interest in ships turned into a serious matter in 1962 when I was 5-year old and sated a collection of post cards of ships with two cards: Cunard's CARONIA and American Export CONSTITUTION.
It was the start of my collection of post cards, photos and ship's memorabilia...
The card od RMS BERENGARIA published in this post is an original obtained on board the ship in September 1926, so it is written on the back.
