One of my first Kodachrome 25 colour slides taken in 1975 showing the West German cruise ship EUROPA leaving Lisbon.
This beautiful motor ship was constructed in The Netherlands in 1953 as Swedish American Line third KUNGSHOLM in 1953. She was sold to Norddeutscher Lloyd in 1965 and reamed EUROPA.
Her forward funnel was a dummy as on SAL two later passenger liners, the GRIPSHOLM of 1957 and the KUNGSHOLM of 1966.

Unless I am terribly mistaking, this ship was in fact the third KUNGSHOLM, not the second. The first was HAL's 1902-built NOORDAM, taken on charter by SAL 1922-24. The second was the 1928-built ship and the third was the future EUROPA. Regardless, a very nice photo of a classic ship.
