MAXIM GORKIY 25 May 2008

It was MAXIM GORKIY's last call in Lisbon but nobody knew it yet, so there was no farewell. It was on 25 May 2008 and the former flagship of the URSS and German merchant fleets docked at Alcântara...
Meanwhile we have updated our HAMBURG / MAXIM GORKIY blog here...

She is gone, the MAXIM GORKIY does not exists any longer, her former beauty turned into scrap at Alang, India...
Here we can see her funnel on 20 September 2008, about to sail from Bremerhaven on her final cruise to Norway.

LISBON CLASSIC CRUISE SHIPS

Two of the most handsome classic cruise ships called Lisbon on 27 October 2007: the MAXIM GORKIY and the SAGA RUBY. Both operate for the European market and are part of a small group of classic passenger ships built in the late sixties and early seventies that are still in service.
The MAXIM GORKIY was introduced in 1969 as the HAMBURG but in early 1974 became the Soviet flagship under the present name.
The SAGA RUBY was the last passenger ship built for Norwegian America Line, in 1973 as the VISTAFJORD.
