Costa first newbuilding: the FEDERICO C of 1958

The beautiful FEDERICO C in her original form as built in 1958. Replaced in 1966 by EUGENIO C on the South America service, she was transferred to the Venezuela and Florida service and gradually became more and more involved in Caribbean and Mediterranean cruising. She was sold in 1983 to Premier Cruises and in 1989 to Dolphin Cruise Line. In 1997 when Dolphin was taken over by Cruise Holdings she was transferred to the new Premier Cruises and operated until the demise of the owners in 2000. Her end in December 2000 was a sad one, with the sinking of the ship on her way to lay up in Freeport...
