VEENDAM in Lisbon 2007-06-17

The Dutch cruise ship VEENDAM (55.758 GT / built 1996) visited Lisbon for the first time on 17th June 2007 and docked at the Rocha Cruise Terminal.
The more modern of the four STATENDAM-class sisters she was delivered by Fincantieri in 1996 to Holland America Line. She sailed for many years under the Bahamas registry but was transferred to the Dutch registry in January 2006.
The present VEENDAM is the forth passenger ship bearing this name in the fleet of Holland America. I remember well the previous VEENDAM (23.372 Grt / built 1958) in her original form as the Moore-McCormack Lines Inc. S.S. ARGENTINA as well as under HAL livery as the VEENDAM, when she visited Lisbon in September 1973.
