Paquebot NORMANDIE

One of the very best passenger liners ever designed and built, French Line's NORMANDIE (1935-1942) was the greatest liner of the 1930s and her loss by fire in New York in February 1942 a sad tragedy that contributed to create a myth.
After WW2 she was replaced by former Norddeutscher Lloyd EUROPA rebuilt as the LIBERTÉ and by the FRANCE in 1962. Probably if the NORMANDIE had been able to survive the war years like the two original Cunard QUEENS, FRANCE would have never been built.
