The Lisbon cruising scene looks busy as always: this August 15 ships have 23 calls on schedule. The largest is INDEPENDENCE of the SEAS, AZURA, GRAND VOYAGER, SEA DREAM 1, CRYSTAL SERENITY, MELODY, BRAEMAR, AIDAVITA, CELEBRITY ECLIPSE, CLUB MED 2, AMADEA, WID SPIRIT, RYNDAM, KRISTINA KATARINA and SEVE SEAS VOYAGER. This is not exactly a collection of classic beauties, but seems to be the best around so far...
FUNCHAL is stil in Lisbon undergoing her SOLAS refit and a total renovation. I was onboard today and it is nice to see her recovery, the new cabins, and so on. Cost is up to about 16 million euros and her return to service has been postponed to March 2012 with a special anniversary cruise to Madeira from Lisbon.
