Corveta JOÃO COUTINHO a largar de Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, em Setembro de 2003.A Marinha tem habitualmente uma corveta baseada nos Açores. Com 38 anos de serviço activo, a JOÃO COUTINHO vai ser substituida pelos novos patrulhões da classe VIANA DO CASTELO, cujas duas primeiras unidades aguardam finalização do aprestamento nos ENVC.
