CARNIVAL SPLENDOR funnel

Funnel of the Carnival cruise ship CARNIVAL SPLENDOR in Lisbon on 16 September 2008.
A company trademark, the Carnival funnels are inspired on the famous winged funnels of the FRANCE of 1962 and on the tail of the Boeing 727.
The colour scheme resulted from the old Canadian Pacific Steamships livery, as Carnival's first ship, the MARDI GRAS was the former EMPRESS OF CANADA of 1961. When Ted Arison purchased her in Tilbury in 1972, Carnival was a small unknown cruise line with very little money, and it was easy and simple to repaint the funnel using the original CP design, just changing the colours from green to red and blue.
