The NORMANDIE in St. Nazaire

The famous French Line flagship NORMANDIE of 1935 photographed in St. Nazaire on the final stage of fitting out.
Her exterior lines were the most elegant and modern of her time, and the ship's interiors were also amazing.
However she was too good for her time and too much modern for the tastes of 1930's average North Atlantic passengers, and so the more conservative and less efficient rival QUEEN MARY of 1936 attracted more passengers...
NORMANDIE is also legendary for her cruises from New York for the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.
