The P&O Anniversary

The Ventura, Arcadia, Aurora & Oriana waiting at dock ... the giant Azura with the review ship Patricia on the left (and with Princess Anne just arriving by car alongside) ... the handsome Oriana ... then the Arcadia ... and finally the towering Ventura. 10,000 combined passengers & 5,000 crew were aboard the 7 P&O liners ... in an effort of huge organization & precision ... and no one missed their ship & each one departed exactly on time! ..." (BM)"Celebrations everywhere, but it seems Carnival UK was unable to rise the old P&O sun logo for the July fleet gathering. The way the majestic PENINSULAR AND ORIENTAL STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY was split and sold piece by pice just to make money for a bunch of greedy shareholders is a signal of our times. What is left of the old P&O is the ferry operation that is owned in the Persian Gulf... It al started with the demerger of the cruise division within the P&O Group. In order to use the original P&O houseflag, Carnival UK has to pay royalties. Crazy world." (LMC)
