The Grace Line was one of the main US shipping companies engaged in regular liner services, from New York to the Caribbean and Central America, and in this magnificent poster (from the collection of my friend Bill Miller) one of the two passenger liners built in 1958, either SANTA ROSA or SANTA PAULA cruising in Willelmstad, Curacao Island, in the Neterland Antilles, both designed by W. F. Gibbs, so the similarities relative to the 1952-built SS UNITED STATES, namely a very similar funnel.
Curacao was a regular port of call of the Portuguese liner SANTA MARIA, she used to berth there every 40 days, 10 calls per years, so it is quite possible that the Portuguese SANTA might have met one of Grace Line's SANTAS there... Unlike the Portuguese SANTA MARIA which was a three-class liner, the ROSA and PAULA were first-class only, catering for 300 pax each.
