The REGINA MARIS of 1966 was the first brand new cruise ship designed and built for a German owner after WW2. She belonged to the Lubeck Linie and visited Lisbon several times. I was lucky to take that photo on what proved to be her final call to Lisbon in her original form.
Later she returned under the same name but registered in Singapore and
operated by Peter Deilmann.
She was later sold to John Latsis of Greece, becoming his yacht ALEXANDER. As such she was extensively rebuilt in Germany... In 1999 George Potamianos bought several ALEXANDER lifeboats (she was registered in London) that were transported to Lisbon aboard his FUNCHAL and later used on the ARION, then being rebuilt in Lisbon.

The ALEXANDER is now one of the most exclusive (and expensive) charter yachts in the World, alongside the CHRISTINA, Onassis former personal yacht.
