CRUISE SHIPS IN LISBON 2008-05-10

These days Lisbon is an even more beautiful city thanks to the many cruise ships that visit the Portuguese capital port.
Today 10th May, there were two distinctive visitors: the sleek modern COSTA VICTORIA and the classic SAGA ROSE. Both were photographed at sea after leaving Lisbon on the afternoon.
Looking at SAGA ROSE, she is truly a beautiful ship and it is very sad that due to the SOLAS 2010 she is going to be scrapped next year despite her present great success with Saga Cruises. In fact it seems to me a crime that SOLAS will put an end to such a magnificent passenger ship. She has been around since 1965 and has always been a perfectly safe ship. There should be a special permission for the SAGA ROSE to carry on after 2010... It is a matter of common sense rather than safety. She has always been safe since 1965.

Probably safer than many of the so called high-tech passenger vessels that we have been witnessing running aground during the last few months...
