ANCONA in Split

The handsome lines of the classic passenger roro ferry ANCONA made this photograph very attractive to me. She was the second ship in a series of three: SAGA, SVEA and PATRICIA of 1966 and 1967. In 1969 SVEA was purchased by Swedish Lloyd and renamed HISPANIA for the Southampton to Bilbao service.
As the ANCONA she is finishing a long second career in the Mediterranean...

Another beauty of the 1960s

This funnel belongs to the passenger Ro-Ro ferry ANCONA, a timeless beauty built in 1966 in Sweden as the SVEA, a ship that was later sold for Swedish Lloyd becoming their HISPANIA and after that the final SAGA.
She was berthed in Split and being ready for another crossing of the Adriatic bound to Ancona, Italy. However, SOLAS 2010 will provide an end to her long career soon.
