Navios de cruzeiros ARTANIA, MAASDAM e OCEAN PRINCESS atracados ao molhe da Pontinha, no porto do Funchal, na tarde de 10 de Dezembro de 2015, fotografados do parque de Santa Catarina e Quinta Vigia. A recordar um dia em Setembro de 1972 em que vi pela última vez o PENDENNIS CASTLE chegar de Las Palmas e fundear mesmo por detrás do molhe da Pontinha pouco antes de os jardins da Quinta Vigia fecharem para darem lugar ao Casino Parque Hotel...

Navios a partir da minha janela

Hoje a cidade do Funchal partilha todo o seu esplendor atlântico envolto numa primavera ensolarada e brilhante com o porto cheio de navios de passageiros. E provavelmente se mais cais houvesse mais navios aqui atracariam. Esta manhã chegaram o SAGA SAPPHIRE e o THOMSON MAJESTY que se juntaram ao ARTANIA e ao LOBO MARINHO no molhe da Pontinha. Eu estarei por cá até Domingo, mas com este tempo e esta paisgem marítima, não apetece voltar ao Continente.

ARTANIA em Buenos Aires

A chegada a Buenos Aires estava marcada para as 05H00 da madrugada e embora contrariado, muito antes desse ETA já eu estava a postos para registar em imagens a entrada no porto da capital da Argentina. O porto em si foi uma decepção tanto como Montevideu fora na véspera uma agradável surpresa. Mas valeu o ARTANIA, antigo ROYAL PRINCESS de 1984, que estava atracado numa das docas e possibilitou algumas fotografias.

ARTANIA in Lisbon

It was the return of an old friend in several ways, the maiden call in Lisbon of Phoenix Reisen's new flagship ARTANIA, on 19 July 2011.

The ship was built in Finland as the first cruise ship purposelly designed for Princess Cruises as their ROYAL PRINCESS of 1984. Later she had a stint with P&O out of Southampton as ARTEMIS and last April was delivered to Phoenix as the replacement of their former classic cruise ship MAXIM GORKIY.

ARTANIA is fresh from a 20 million Euro refit in Bremerhaven and she looks fit for many years sailing under Phoenix livery...

ARTANIA ex-ARTEMIS in Rotterdam

When introduced in 1984 as the ROYAL PRINCESS, this ship was the last word in cruise ship design. She was Princess Cruises first brand new ship and later she saw service under the livery of P&O Cruises as ARTEMIS.

She was delivered in April to Phoenix Reisen, Germany and after a refit she is now cruising as ARTANIA.
