U 2540 WILHELM BAUER

Uma visita ao porto de Bremerhaven, na Alemanha proporciona a oportunidade de entre muitos outros navios e embarcações conhecer o submarino U2540, um dos poucos sobreviventes da Segunda Guerra Mundial preservado como museu depois de uma carreira ao serviço da marinha da Alemanha Federal entre 1960 e 1982.

O U 2540 encontra-se atracado no porto velho de Bremerhaven, junto ao museu marítimo alemão.

Preserved German submarine U 2540 in the old dock at Bremerhaven, near the Deutsches Schiffahrtsmuseum. U 2540 is one of the few WW2 German submarines still afloat and the photos were taken in 20 September 2008 by L. M. Correia.

Terminal de Passageiros de Bremerhaven

Aspectos do porto e terminal de passageiros de Bremerhaven, um dos mais importantes da Alemanha. Repare-se que são permitidas despedidas a partir das varandas do terminal, pois cada porto faz a sua própria leitura das normas internacionais de segurança ditadas pelos EUA após Setembro de 2001.

É uma pena que nos portos portugueses não se sinta maior abertura para este tipo de interacção. Afastam-se as pessoas dos navios, e da vida portuária e depois queixam-se de a sociedade não ter abertura para as questões ligadas ao mar...
