The Portuguese hospital ship GIL EANNES berthed at the Jardim do Tabaco dock, in Lisbon, 1975, from one of my earlier negatives. On the previous post two other photos of this attractive ship can be seen (taken on her arrival in Lisbon on 10 April 1975).
The GIL EANNES was built in 1955 at Viana do Castelo to replace another ship of the same name. She operated as mother-ship to the famous cod fisshing white fleet operating in the North Atlantic until 1973.

She was later used as a reefer fishing carrier and as a passenger cargo liner. Laid up in Lisbon in 1984, she was sold in 1997 to Viana do Castelo interests where she has been open to public visits since 1998 as a museum ship.
