Forty years ago, Lisbon was an important gateway for the passenger liner services between Europe and Brazil / River Plate. The larger ships were the Italian Line sisters AUGUSTUS and GIULIO CESARE and Costa EUGENIO C, ENRICO C and ANDREA C all sailing between the Mediterranean and South America, while Blue Star Line, Messageries Maritimes and Ybara & Cia., operated from the North Europe and or North Spain.
