FUNCHAL back home

It was nice to see and photograph again the FUNCHAL in Lisbon on 17 May 2007 after so many months cruising in Australian and Orient waters. The old girl still looks as pretty as ever and arrived early in the morning from Australia and the Mediterranean, to sail again at 13h30 to Harwich and another series of cruises in North Europe.

NRP BARRACUDA NO TEJO

AIDAdiva maiden cruise at Lisbon

The new flagship of AIDA CRUISES, the brand-new AIDAdiva visited Lisbon on her inaugural cruise on 5 and 6 May 2007. Built in Papenburg, Germany by Messrs Meyer Werft, she was named at Hamburg on 20 April and will be based at Palma de Mallorca for 7-day Mediterranean cruises until September when she starts a series of winter cruises in the Canary and Madeira Islands. She is the first of four sister ships and sails under the Italian flag although she was designed to the German market under the Carnival Group umbrella.

FRAM IN LISBON May 4, 2007

The new Norwegian cruise ship FRAM called in Lisbon on her positioning cruise from her Italian builders bound for Norway on the afternoon of 4th May 2007. The ship was designed to cruise in Greenland in the summer months and in Antarctica in the winter.
Built by Fincantieri at their Monfalcone yard, the FRAM embarked her first passengers at Barcelona on 30 April and visited Lisbon soon after.
We were able to visit the FRAM and enjoyed very much her fine interiors and decks. A fine modern cruise ship with many classic appointments onboard in the very best Norwegian cruise tradition.

Beautiful M.S. FRAM

The new Norwegian cruise ship FRAM photographed in Lisbon on 4th May 2007 by Luís Miguel Correia - Copyright photographs

We were able to visit the brand-new Norwegian cruise ship FRAM on her inaugural cruise in Lisbon on 4th May and photograph her nice interiors and decks. The Port of Lisbon Cruise Manager Manuela Patrício and the FRAM captain exchanged gifts as seen on one of the pictures.

The FRAM is a very interesting ship, her interiors are very comfortable and soft, the decks are well designed for the cruise passengers to enjoy the unusual scenes in Greenland or in the South Seas. A modern example of a ship small and beautiful.

Mensagem do Comodoro da ANL

Caro editor do BNM,

SETUBAL SHIPPING 30 April 2007

Setubal is a beautiful port South of Lisbon where I have spent a few hours today in the mouth of the river Sado photographing several intersting ships in and outbound, including the reefer AGULHAS STREAM (9298 GT / 1998), the box shape cargo ship DEALER (1692 GT / 1982) loading cement at the Secil terminal, and the tanker SHKOTOVO (2966 GT / 1990), leaving Setubal.
