Cruise ship CORAL underway in Portugueses waters

Louis Cruises' CORAL photographed underway on the Eastern Atlantic Portuguese coast off Cape Espichel on her way South back to the Mediterranean following a late season call to Lisbon on 28 November 2009.
A very atmospheric photograph depicting the evening wintery light. 2009 has been a very good year for cruise shipping calls in Portuguese waters...

CUNARD ADVENTURER

The same ship, a different look: the cruise ship CORAL as built as the CUNARD ADVENTURER with the original tall funnel painted in Cunard red in 1976. In 1977 the CUNARD ADVENTURER was replaced by the new and larger CUNARD PRINCESS and sold to NCL. Thirty one years later the former Cunarder still looks smart and busy.

THE CORAL in Lisbon 24-03-2007

The Cypriot cruise ship CORAL visited Lisbon on Saturday 24 March 2007 and I was able to take some photographs. Another seven photos at the LISBON CRUISE SHIPS blog
This nice looking cruise ship was built in the Netherlands in 1971 as CUNARD ADVENTURER for the Cunard Line. In 1977 she was sold to NCL and renamed SUNWARD II.
At about this time her exterior looks were changed: the original QE2-style white funnel was replaced by two side by side funnels in order to match the looks of the other NCL cruise ships and the mast was also modified. Later the ship became the TRITON and operated as such for Epirotiki and Royal Olympic Cruises. Following the bankrupcy of ROC she was purchased by present owners Louis Cruises of Limassol, Cyprus.
As CUNARD ADVENTURER, she visited Lisbon in 1971 on her positioning cruise to the Caribbeans. Later she also called as the TRITON in Epirotiky livery, and in 2006 returned as the TRITON.
