SOVEREIGN at Villefranche

The French-built SOVEREIGN, once the largest cruise ship in the world back in 1987 when introduced by Royal Caribbean as their famous SOVEREIGN of the SEAS.
Last year she was transferred to Pullmantur and after a series of Brazilian cruises the ship replaced the OCEANIC on 7-day cruises out of Barcelona calling at western Mediterranean ports: Villefranche, Livorno, Civitavecchia, Naples and Tunis.
We did the inaugural cruise from Barcelona on 23 to 30 March 2009 and the present photos were taken in Villefranche. It was SOVEREIGN's maiden call and also the start of the 2009 cruise season to the French Riviera famous port...

SOVEREIGN: Pullmantur's flagship

When built as the SOVEREIGN of the SEAS, she was the largest cruise ship in the world, back in 1987. Over the years new ships took over her title but the ship has been able to keep her grace and beauty, with one of the very last cruiser sterns shaped in NORMANDIE style.
In November she was transferred to Pullmantur and I did her first cruise from Barcelona last March. It was a very pleasant cruise and the ship is very beautiful...
