Em termos de navios de cruzeiros, o ano de 1998 foi de grande movimento em Lisboa, em parte devido ao interesse gerado pela EXPO 98.
Para além dos navios visitantes, tivemos de Abril a Setembro uma bela frota residente, composta por três paquetes clássicos afretados para servirem de hoteis flutuantes: ITALIA PRIMA, OCEAN EXPLORER I e PRINCESA VICTORIA, que preencheram a muralha de cais, do Jardim do Tabaco a Santa Apolónia. Anos depois, o ITALIA PRIMA voltou ao Tejo onde mudou de nome e proprietário, passando a ser o ATHENA da companhia Classic International Cruises e depois, o AZORES e ASTORIA.
