COSTA PACIFICA in Buenos Aires

The fourth cruise ship in port at Buenos Aires on 31 January 2015 was the COSTA PACIFICA, making me wish the EUGENIO C was there instead, but we can not manage time that way. It is amazing the way they can handle the present day giant passenger ships into the Buenos Aires docks.

COSTA PACIFICA in Lisbon

Italian cruise ship COSTA PACIFICA arriving in Lisbon in the morning of 18 May 2012 for another call. Costa passenger ships have been a regular feature of the Lisbon waterfront since 1948 when the old ANNA C started her regular liner voyages to Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, via Lisbon.
Despite the sad accident of COSTA CONCORDIA the Costa fleet still displays a large number of proud and attractive pasenger cruise ships, and it is so good to see them in Lisbon...

The Port of Lisbon as seen by Jon Miller from his veranda on board the CELEBRITY SOLSTICE on the ships call on 2 December 2011. Other ships in port were COSTA PACIFICA, AIDABELLA, INDEPENDENCE OF THE SEAS, PRINCESS DANAE and FUNCHAL still undergoing her refit.
The ferry seen on the first picture is the DAFUNDO of 1984, one of six CACILHENSE-class ferries still in service of a total of 12 ships constructed in Portugal in 1981-1984.

New Costa cruise ships

June 27 will be a historic day for Fincantieri when two Costa ships are floated out simultaneously: Costa Luminosa at the Marghera yard and Costa Pacifica at Sestri Ponente.
Costa Luminosa is due for delivery at the end of April 2009, with Costa Pacifica following a month later. The arrival of the two ships will boost the Costa fleet to 14 with total passenger capacity of approximately 36,000.
The 92,700gt Costa Luminosa, a new design for the brand, will carry up to 2,828 passengers. A sister to Costa Concordia and Costa Serena, the 114,500gt Costa Pacifica will accommodate up to 3,780 passengers. Image: the COSTA EUROPA cruising off Lisbon
