O ano da inauguração da última ampliação do molhe da pontinha. Curiosamente, foi no paquete Principe Perfeito que 2 anos depois, em 1964, o presidente da república, almirante Américo Thomaz, se deslocou ao Funchal para inaugurar o aeroporto da Madeira. Até 1964 as ligações de e para a ilha eram exclusivamente feitas por via marítima!
