I remember the ATALANTE still in her original livery as Messageries Maritimes TAHITIEN calling regularly in Funchal on her voyages between Marseilles and Sydney in about 1970. Then she was sold to Greek interests and was renamed ATALANTE in 1971. As such I saw her again from time to time, she did call in Lisbon twice on cruises and I saw her in the Mediterranean, just like on that August 1995 when she arrived in Ashdod and I took those two photos. She had a long working life of more than fifty years ending up in Alang in 2004.
