Ex-HADAG ferries still going strong in Lisbon
When in 1977 the HADAG ferry VOLKSDORF moved from the river Elbe to the Tagus, she became the MARVILA and has sailed back and forth over the river banks ever since. By now she is one of four ex-German ferries still in service in Lisbon.
Her former running mates PORTO BRANDÃO, VOUGA and CASTELO are no longer in service, but the MOURARIA, S. PAULUS and TRAFARIA PRAIA are still active showing her clear strong German lines to its best.
The MARVILA ex-VOLKSDORF is employed on the Belém to Porto Brandão and Trafaria ferry service and despite her 50 years - she built in Hamburg in 1956, she is still going strong...
