CRUISE SHIP REFITS IN LISBON
The Portuguese cruise ship FUNCHAL has been undergoing refit work at the Drydock NO.1 of the NAVALROCHA yard, and is set to sail from Lisbon on 7 November for Australia and her third season of cruising "down under".
The Holland America Line flagship ROTTERDAM sailed from Lisbon at 5PM on 5th November on her positioning cruise to the Caribbean and the USA following a 5-day wet-dock maintenance period alongside the Rocha cruise terminal. Over the years, Holland America has been positioning their cruise ships in Lisbon for dry-dockings: the classic SS NIEUW AMSTERDAM did her final dry-docking at the LISNAVE yard in Lisbon in September 1973, and the previous ROTTERDAM was also repainted blue by Lisnave at the same time... Other HAL ships serviced by repair yards in Lisbon in later years include the NOORDAM of 1984.
