Eight cruise ships with 10,000 passengers visited Funchal, Madeira Island for the popular New Year's Eve:
AIDABLU, ATHENA, BLACK PRINCE, MSC MUSICA, ORIANA, THOMSON DESTINY, SAGA ROSE and the VAN GOGH were all part of the New Year celebrations, anchored in the bay of Funchal with the local cruise ferry LOBO MARINHO also doing her scenic cruising for the fireworks watch. 
This past 31st December the weather could not have been better, with clear blue skies and smooth seas helping create the perfect setting to welcome 2007. There is no better way to embark on a a happy new year than onboard a cruise ship off Madeira island, as 10,000 wise cruise passengers were able to find this time... And I was there too, busy with my cameras in what turned to give me another 1,000 photos. What a wonderful world.Copyright photos and text by Luís Miguel Correia - 2007
