The face behind the pictures

The face behind the pictures. This time going nowhere for the moment. Just going along with a passion for ships that in 1975 took over a camera and turned into shipping photography. And each ship is a picture and for each picture I wish I could have a book. Another book was finished yesterday. The best one. My best book is always the one I'm working on right now. And this book - a company history and fleet list is about some of my favorite ships from the past. While doing it I got closer and closer to those ships and the men behind them. Starting with the company's founder, a very interesting and clever man who was unable to sign his name but did create a shipping company that is still going strong. While writing on him I became more and more involved with him, with his work, his partners and the people who managed the company after he passed away. He seems to be on the second picture waiting for his newest ship to cross the Tagus Bar. He still sails on the ships operated by his company. And that counts. And after more than a year working hard on books that never get finished I'm getting nuts. Sorry...

That reminds us of the proverb, «Don't be sorry, just be careful».
