The cruise liner FUNCHAL arrived in Lisbon this morning at 7.22 AM from Naples, the Suez Canal and India on another long positioning trip from Australia. Photo sent by her former master Captain Augusto Moita taken in 2005 in the Mediterranean.
The FUNCHAL is berthed at the Rocha Pasenger Terminal and sails at 5 PM for Le Havre.
The last survivor of the once magnificent fleet of Portuguese passenger liners - there were 26 in 1966, the FUNCHAL is being refitted to continue in operation after 2010 thanks to the efforts and dedication of her owner Mr. George Potamianos.
The original owner of INSULANA, Mr. Vasco Bensaude would never dream of seeing his beloved FUNCHAL still sailing 47 years after her maiden voyage and doing long voyages from Australia...
