LIVORNO sunset

Sunset over the busy port of Livorno, Italy, on 25 March 2009... While most passengers went on the mandatory shore excursions to Florence and Pisa, we stayed on board our ship.
Livorno is probably one of the less passenger-friendly ports in Europe. A tax has to be paid by passengers wishing to disembark, just for the transit from the ship up to the Port entrance gates. This should be free or included in the Pax individual taxes charged by the port... On previous cruises, there was a complimentary shutle bus from the ship's gangway to the centre of the city of Livorno. Changes were not for the better.
