Portuguese colonial liner UIGE leaving Lisbon on 7 August 1954 at the start of her maiden voyage to Portuguese West Africa.
Built in a dry dock at the Cockerill Yard in Hoboken, Antwerp, she was the fifth ship built at this yard for Companhia Colonial de Navegação after LUANDA, VERA CRUZ, SANTA MARIA and SENA.
