ORCADES of 1948, the first of the Orient Line post-WW2 replacement new ships, leaving Sydney from Berth 13 Pyrmont in original Orient Line colours. She used the same basic hull as P&O HIMALAYA, but had otherwise a very different profile with a single tripod mast and typical Orient funnel. She was followed by ORONSAY and ORSOVA, the first mastless passenger liner, and the ORIANA in 1960.

... gostava de ver o novo navio da P&O a ostentar o nome de um velho veterano da companhia. VENTURA não me satisfaz nem AZURA. Não sei, talvez seja o meu feitio resmungão. O LMC partilha da minha opinião ou nem sequer meditou no assunto?

Concordo contigo. O novo ADONIA repete o nome para permitir a reutilização de materiais com o nome gravado do navio anterior, como loiças, por exemplo...
Interessante esse facto. Confesso que nunca havia pensado nesse simples mas importante ($$$) pormenor.
