Fred. Olsen's BORGSTEN of 1963

The largest ship built in the U.K. since QUEEN ELIZABETH of 1940 was Fred. Olsen's motor tanker BORGSTEN.
The third ship under this name in Fred. Olsen fleet, BORGSTEN was constructed in Sunderland by Joseph L. Thompson & and Sons Ltd and launched on 1 November 1963. The 49.311 gross tons tanker had a deadweight of 91.356 tons, was delivered in 1964 and registered under the Norwegian flag. In 1973 she was sold and renamed OSWEGO COURAGE and five years later arrived at Kaoshiung, Taiwan, on 19 September 1978 to be broken up. Her innovative design included a futuristic navigation tower and the traditional bow figurehead of the Fred. Olsen ships.
