ACHILLE LAURO

ACHILLE LAURO photographed in Lisbon in the 1980s.
On the first photograph the tug AVEIRO is assisting ACHILLE LAURO off her berth at the Rocha passenger ship terminal.
In the middle two views of the forward funnel including the late form with StarLauro colours painted out.

Beautiful photographs, as always, and interesting to see a close-up of the not-Starlauro funnel.

In terms of exterior appearance, the Achille Lauro is one of my favourite passenger ships of all time. The overall shape of the ship, the funnels, the colour scheme all work beautifully (and surprisingly, considering as the Willem Ruys was not nearly as attactive).

I presume sha cannot have been too bad on the inside either, as I know at least one aspiring cruise line in the 70s used her as a reference on what a good cruise ship was supposed to be like.
