New York Cruises and Cruise Ships

Bill Miller reports from New York that "1,000,000 passengers, most of them on cruise ships, departed from NY in 2012. Fall is the busiest period. Recently, on a Saturday afternoon earlier this month, 6 cruise liners departed.
Four of them were in Manhattan - AIDACARA, CARNIVALGLORY, NORWEGIAN GEM and CARNIVAL SPLENDOR."

The date of this meeting was 14 September 2013...
In September 1997 I spent a Saturday afternoon with Bill Miller photographing the departure of the cruise ships from the same spot those have now been taken, in New Jersey. By then ships were quite different and included former liners - SOUTHERN CROSS and OLYMPIA as well as second generation cruise ships like SONG OF AMERICA.

Hi Luis,

I really enjoy your blog. The historical information and photos are great. Please keep up the good work.

You may want to modify your post submitted on "New York Cruises and Cruise Ships".

The Carnival Splendor has been sailing from New York since May. She has been sailing to Florida, Bahamas and Turks and Caicos as well as eastern Caribbean cruises. Prior to this she was sailing on the West Coast of the United States.

The Carnival Legend spent the summer in Europe and is arriving in New York on a one time cruise to the Caribbean on October 10th.

On August 30, 2014 the Carnival Legend is sailing from Los Angeles to Australia.

The Carnival Splendor has a published schedule from New York indefinitely and will not be redeployed to Australia.

I really enjoy your posts and photos. Please keep the info and photos coming.

All the best.
