MARCO POLO delivered to new owners in Lisbon

The cruise ship MARCO POLO arrived in Lisbon last Saturday, 22nd March at the end of her final cruise for Orient Line (NCL) and was delivered the following Monday to new owners Global Cruise Lines, Piraeus. The photographs were taken on 26 March when the funnel was being repainted, or to be more correct, when the Orient Line funnel was being painted out. The MARCO POLO is berthed at the Rocha Cruise Terminal in Lisbon and she will stay in Lisbon for the next two weeks.
The MARCO POLO will be operated under charter by the German company TRANSOCEAN, of Bremen replacing the ASTORIA. The Global Cruise Lines paid an extra fee to NCL in order to keep the ship's previous name of MARCO POLO. She was built in 1965 in East Germany as the second of five passenger liners of the IVAN FRANKO class, of which she is the final surviver.
