An old photo from my archives showing the beautiful CARIBIA of Siosa Cruises departing from Genoa in the early seventies.
One of DFDS cruise ferries can be also seen in port.
CARIBIA was the former Cosulich and Italia liner VULCANIA built 1926-28 in Trieste. After a very long and successful career she was replaced in 1965 with sister SATURNIA by the new MICHELANGELO and RAFFAELLO flagships of Italia Line.
After sale to Siosa Line she was refited and returned to service in 1966. Her luck ended on the night od 24 September 1972 on a cruise when she damaged her hull off Nice by running on submerged rocks. Withdrawn from service she was sold for scrap in 1973.
